Catharsis: The debut solo exhibition of Alexander Ebadan (Mr. Baker)
Alexandar Ebadan presents Catharsis, the debut solo exhibition by Lagos based artist and poet Alxand8r, also known as Mr. Baker. Presented for one day only on 15 August 2026, the exhibition opens with a private viewing at No. 2, Lateef Jakande Avenue, Ikoyi, Lagos.
Across the works assembled here, all executed in oil and acrylic on canvas, Catharsis is concerned with the rupture and what comes after. The quiet that follows exhaustion. The moment the body stops resisting. The strange relief of no longer having to hold everything together.
Alxand8r came to visual practice through poetry, and the discipline of the line remains visible in the work. Catharsis started from a period of physical vulnerability which forced him to slow down and search for release, each painting is its own representation of his attempt to visualize that search.
For a debut presentation, Catharsis is notable for its restraint. The works do not attempt to tell the viewer exactly what to feel, instead they create spaces in which the viewer can slow down, recognize something familiar, and perhaps release something of their own. Catharsis is ultimately an invitation to rest. To consider that surrender is not always defeat but sometimes, it is simply the beginning of peace.

Catharsis is supported by Yaa Asantewaa Agency, a Pan African arts management and representation agency working with notable and emerging visual artists, musicians, and cultural figures across Nigeria, Ghana, Benin, Togo, and the diaspora. Alxand8r is represented by the agency, which supports his practice across exhibition development, market strategy, and international presentation.
